Default 2.2l tII engine rebuild

i have a 87 shelby z i blow the head on it this past summer when i was home on leave i am planning on rebiulding the engine just wanted to know if the sell a rebiuld kit or if i will have to buy all of the seals, rings and all the other fun stuff seperate?

how do you go about plugging up the holes when you remove the balance shafts? (might as well do that since it is apart)

unfuruntely it has to be done on a tight budget so nothing speacial will be put back in, unless i can find it really cheap.

if by balance shafts, you mean cv axles, you've got to pull those out to remove the transmission, then to remove the engine...

i'm sure there is a vendor that sells a rebuild kit for the 2.5L... check out importperformanceparts.net

by blance shaft i am referring to the two balance shafts that are located i believe just above the oil pan or some where in that general area. they are found in just about every 4 cyclinder i have work on. when they are removed there are oil feed holes that need to be plug back up or you have no oil pressure from how i under stand it.

does anybody know if you can bolt a 88 2.5l to the trans. found in the 87 shelby z? the local junk yard has a 2.5 lit. turbo lebarron that runs but the tranny doesn't work. he is will to sell my the egine and what ever wiring i might need from the car for $120 if i come and pull it myself.

fwdperformance.com has kits for rebuilds. If its no on the site, just call and ask. They have everything, and its cheap.
they also will know if the 2.5 bolts on to the A555 tranny...

If your Shelby Z still has the original 2.2 TII motor it will not have Balance shafts. Only the 2.5L and the 2.2 TIII's got them.

You can get a complete Fel-Pro gasket kit at your local parts store for around $100+.
