Using muriatic acid to de-rust the inside of my 1986 Daytona fuel tank (per several YouTube videos), the internal plastic sump/baffle disintegrated. I have found no replacement tanks that contain an internal sump/baffle, and there is no way to insert one, EVEN IF such a part WERE available. I figure I'll have to fashion and reconstruct one ala the "ship inside a bottle" method. I see no alternative, other than always keeping the tank full of fuel (to mitigate stalling and fuel pump damage), or buying a dealer replacement tank (if available?). Any other suggestions?
