Default Motor Swap

Does anybody know what I would have to pull and swap to change my 85 with a 2.2 over to a 3.0? Will both computers need to be changed? I assume yes since it's a swap from a 4 to a 6 cyl. And I assume the wiring harness's that go with them. I'm just looking for some more power until I can afford to do the V-8 conversion (thanks exline!) in a few years. And it will give the honda's something to think about...

you will need to pull everything you can find under the hood of the V6 car and put it under your car.its almost all different.the computer the harness, transmission, axles, engine mounts just about everything.too bad i didnt know someone would want that stuff i junked all of mine when i put in the V8 except for the motor and it has a rattle in the head so hard to tell whats wrong with it but it only had 52000 miles on it.I know the firewall was different also but i dont know if it makes a difference or not.

Sounds like a lot of BS for not much of a power gain. I've researched this a bit on allpar.com and in 1985 the 2.2 was 93 hp and the 3.0 V6 when introduced in 1990 was 141 hp but in 1985 the 2.2 turbo was 142 hp. Just my opinion but it may be a better bet to find a earlier 2.2 turbo. Don't get me wrong I ABSOLUTLY LOVE the 3.0 V6 best damn engine I've ever owned. I'm just thinking of all the work you'll have to do to convert to a v6 just to rip it all out again for a V8 (exline rocks). Best of luck with whatever you decide and keep on shutting down them Honda's!!!

The V-6 is just for practice (LOL). It may go in sometime this summer. As for the horsepower gain, I'm not a big fan of turbo's, superchargers, or nitrous. I've made a few modifications to my 2.2 and now it puts out 135 hp (not bad), and I plan on doing some mods to the 3.0 before I put it in. I've done some checking and found my existing manual trans will bolt up (the gears are different between the two engines), and I figured the computers and harnesses, I also figured engine mounts. Which clutch/flywheel combo should I use? I would assume the one for the 6...
