Default Idle control unit making noise

I have an 87 Pacifica that makes a weird "buzzing" noise when you turn the ignition key to just befor start. I have isolated the noise and it seems to be coming form the throttle body from what I believe to be the Idle control unit. Once started it idles fine, sputtering at times, and every so often makes the same "buzzing" noise. Can anyone tell me if this is normal?

I beleive your talking about the AS motor...

Yes they can be noisy and if your idle is jumpy it's time to take it out and clean it!

easy job and not had to do....better than replacing the unit unless it's really loud which could mean it's death is near by...
