Not sure about the maintenance aspect. We had a Caravan with the 3.0 and the only issues we had engine-wise was it loved oil. Bad rings and valve guides, but we got the van used and cheap, so...

As for the performance stuff, good luck. It's actually a mitsubishi engine, so you may want to try that, but I wouldn't hold my breath to long. Seems that unless you have a neon with a 2.0/2.4 or a honda, the aftermarket companies don't care. I've been looking for bolt-on mods for my 2.2 for over ten years...

damageincracing, you can swap the 2.2L head for the 2.0L head and you will be able to use a lot of the neon mods. http://home.comcast.net/~ozspeed/index.htm

The 3.0L doesn't really have much of an aftermarket for it. A better air filter and a custom exhaust (from a muffler shop) are two easy mods to find.

I've seen that swap, but I'm just gonna wait a couple years and do exlines 8 cylinder conversion. Have you SEEN that thing! Talk about a rice burner- that thing will leave 'em burnt alright...

I assume that since the 2.2 and the 2.5 share the same block/head setup, the 2.0/2.4 neon conversion will work on it, too. It's just a shame that people forget that there are quite a few of us non-turbo owners out there. All the parts/tips/tricks seem to be geared toward turbocharged engines.
