2.2 questions
just got my new toy finally, started out as a charger, year/model unknown, it was rebuilt from the ground up with an all tube chassis, only 2 bits of the stock frame remaining, custom coilover suspension, soild engine mounts everywhere, etc etc.
if you havent guessed its a racecar, not a street car anymore [sm=icon_blah.gif]
anyway, its had quite a bit of engine work done, the guy who built it would only tell me that the heads been ported and polished, and cutt to hell and back, needs double washers on the spark plugs, and a 520 lift cam, now for the first question, the cam is riding on hydro lifters, im looking to change them to solid, i have another engine, fresh from the shop, another 2.2 but this one a stroker, it has a solid lifter head, but im not ready to put it together yet, and i dont want to throw that head on this engine...
next question, the car came with an old rusted hooker long tube header, had a large hole at the collector, no problem to fix... BUT.. the da*m thing wont fit around the tube chassis, 2 main support bars are in the way, my question is.. how hard is it to make a custom header? the flange is no problem.. the bending/welding, no problem... but i know alot of tunning goes into the bends and stuff, should i try to copy the hooker, or just use my imagination and do what looks like it would flow best?
i was also given alot of parts with the car, mainly transmissions/axles and spare heads, 8 in total, most complete, along with 2 complete engines, not counting the one in the car and the brand new engine, one is a turbo... but i cant run it, rules [8D] how can i tell whats what.., the trans in the car now has an lsd and only 3 gears, first second and reverse, which is all i need, the direct link shifer rods are rather annoying... i got the cables and shifter but my trans doesnt have the right brackets, if one of the other trans has one, can it be swaped?
i know thats alot of typing, i can get pictures of anything if it will help, thanks in advance
for the curious
