i have an 89 daytona 2.5 non turbo. when you start it you need to give it a little gas to keep it running, as soon as you let off of the gas the car stalls, this is just on a regular day trying to start it up. also when you take the carb off it is spitting up gas

 

Try getting the codes they might point you to whats wrong. The code procedure is http://www.allpar.com/fix/80s-codes.html .
I'm pretty sure it was a bad temperature sensor that caused a similar no start problem on my Daytona.

The 89 had a throttle body with fuel injection not a carb, what do you mean by when you take it off its spitting up gas?
Is gas leaking out the injector or a fuel line?
