Convince me to buy a Daytona!
I'm new here.
I'm very interested in buying a new Dodge Daytona. 1990 Dodge Daytona Shelby Edition Turbo, 2.2L V4.
I like the sporty look, and the fact that its turbo.
Its currently 2500$ CND.
There are 160XXX km's.

In the add it says RARE, but how rare is it actually?
I have talked to the owner and she says its needs new CV joints.
I have done a bit of research, but could you enthusiasts help me with pricing them, are they rare or hard to find, difficult to install. There is a couple square inches of rust on the back bumber, which shouldent be a big deal to patch up.
Does anyone know where I can find the factory information on it?
And does this car have decent power or is it weak?
I have some general knowledge of cars but sry if any of these questions, are a little simple.
Thanks alot.

I don't know how rare they are but you could definitely find out. I personally like those cars. I recommend, as you stated, a test drive and give the motor a listen. Listen for the turbo whine and blow off (if you can), bring the motor up to at least 5k in third. The only thing I would worry about is how it was driven...like an N/A car...yeah, I know, the opposite of what most people say. Look for black smoke during shifts to determine if it's running rich or white/blue for worse case indications. Don't focus on lifter tick as a motor that old will naturally have (unless the head was rebuilt). Listen for any lobing of the motor. Check your normal stuff...belts, leaks, oil...blah, blah..you know these.
Work the turbo though, at higher RPMs, the motor should be singing (especially with stock exhaust) and not gasping. CV joints are easy for a DIY project but they aren't hard in terms of DIY either. I say test it make an offer and take it home
I am biased about getting the car though, since I do like them, price seems reasonable IMO too.

Check the radiator fill cap area for signs of oil. The 2.2 & 2.5 turbos are nortorious for blowing head gaskets. Also look under the oil fill cap for signs of water - will look like a milky light brown sludge just like a light brown chocolate milk shake.
If Canadian and US models are the same that would be one of 536 made in 1990 only. For 1990 the Daytona Shelby (when ordered with the 5 spd) got the TIV engine (VNT-Variable Nozzle Turbo). If it is original paint (looks like it) it will say "Intercooled VNT" right along the bulge in the hood. Only odd thing is the two tone paint like a 1989 model (lower grey). Not sure if this was a Canadian thing but the 90's all were monochromatic paint scheme (all one color) in US anyways.
