WEATHER TURNED COLD & GOT A DIFFERENT NOISE. WHEN STARATED & LOUDER WHEN PUT IN REVERSE, BUT CALMS DOWN WHEN IN GEAR. WAS TOLD 2 DIFFERENT PROBLEMS BY 2 SHOPS 1 SAID MAIN BEARINGS, OTHER SAID RODS. I DRIVE IT DAILY & IS FINE. GONNA HAVE IT REBUILT BY FWD PERFORMANCE. WAS WONDERING TO STAY WITH 2.5 OR SWITCH TO 2.2? WAS TOLD 2.5 HAS MORE TORQUE BUT2.2 MORE RPMS. AY SUGGESTIONS? THANKS SHELBY90

I have an 1988 Daytona Pacifica that has the 2.2 intercooled turbo. I have gone through two higher milage 2.2's they both failed for spun main bearings from high revs. I still think it is a great motor they had lots of miles. I am now putting in a 2.5. They do have the same block but there are subtle differences like sensors that need to be looked into before you change over. The exhaust manifold is slightly larger then the 2.2 the O2 sensor is a 4 wire on the 2.5 and a 3 wire on the 2.2. The block is 12mm higher so the timing belt is obviously different. Your right about the torque but the horse power on an intercooled 2.2 is still higher.

Could you turn off the caps lock? Posts in all caps are hard to read and are... well... annoying.
As for nobody responding to the thread, it normally takes a couple days for the responses to start coming in.

You get better (and faster) replies without the attitude that's implied. We don't live on this site and insulting people that are on here with "GUESS NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING!!!! THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE AFEW WISE PEOPLE OUT THEERE!!!!!!!
HEARD THIS WAS GOOD PLACE TO GET INFO ON DAYTONAS!!!!! SEEMS I WAS MISLEAD!!!!" leaves a real bad taste in members mouths.
