A little about my car - 1989 Daytona ES automatic
My Dad bought the last year they put T tops in the ES 2.5 non turbo it had 5 miles on it. The odometer stopped at 163,000 miles that was 9 years ago when he gave it to me. The engine has about 250,000 miles now (guess ta ment). The engine still runs great but the trans is about done, no reverse, trans has to get warm to go into gear, and slips a lot.

My daughter is 13 now so I would like to start a 3 year project of reworking the dodge so when she is 16 we will have 3 good cars.

What I would like to do -
Install a rebuilt motor
Put in a 5 speed manual trans
Upgrade the interior to a 90ish interior, never did like the ES dash set up!

Questions -
The motor non issue I have found some good rebuilds for about 1300.00.
Can I change from an auto to a manual, and what is involved?
I would also like to pull as much power out of the 2.5 as I can, suggestions?
Is the interior up grade a difficult one or should I just stay original?

Any help as far as web sites and such would be great. As I get under way I will post some pics
