Default clutch lever help.

i just installed a new tranny in my 89 daytona 5-speed.. before putting the new transaxle in i put a new clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing in and got my flywheel cut. now i have everything back togeather and in corectly except for my clutch cable. when i go to atach it to my clutch lever on the trans it dosent wanna budge. i was under there with my foot using all my leg strength to push up on it and it only buded about an inch. any ideas on how far its sposed to move after new clutch? or how much pressure should be aplied to atach the cable. i know when i took the old transaxle out it wasnt that dificult to disconect the cable. if anything i was thinking mabe that inch is all it needs to move? so mabe i need to adjust my cable? please let me know. any help would be great. my worst fear is the throwout bearing is jamed or crooked or somthing.

*EDIT:

i got the cable installed in the clutch lever. however, it dosent seem to disengage the clutch fully. when running and i push on the clutch pedal and try to put it in gear it wont go. reverse just grinds. i looked up how to adjust the cable but the manual says it has and auto adjusting clutch cable mechanism. i'm getting really frustrated at theis point for all the work i have done and to be hung up on little porblems like this. any advice would be great. thanks

It sounds like you have it jambed up in the clutch area
