my daytona died on us and ive got a spark coming out of coil but not out of dist. could the coil be bad if im still getting a spark, or could the pickup/optical module inside dist be bad? any info would be helpful thx

 

If the pick-up was bad you wouldn't get ANY spark the way these cars are set-up. If the power module doesn't get a signal from the pick-up in the distributor, you get no coil spark, no fuel injector operation, no fuel pump operation (after you turn on the key that is). My bet is the cap and rotor are junk if you're getting spark to it but not out of it...

 

Buy a new cap and rotor, these are very cheap and could fix it right there. If that doesn't work, get new spark plug wires and new spark plugs. Check your computer codes and post the codes up here.

 

Do yourself a favour and check the timing belt! Everything will work and it sounds like the car wants to start but does not. Just pop the cover of and have someone try to start it see if it moves the cam. Good luck
