Default Brake Noise On '05 SXT....

-This may be a stupid question, but my Neon is making a weird noise when braking. It almost sounds like a bird chirping or a little dog yapping. The car only has 29.6k on it. Would these be the wear indicators on the pads? If so I've never heard them sound like that. Just the usual light grinding sound when the indicators touch the rotors. When it first started, we were getting a bunch of rain, so I just thought they were making noises because they were wet. Well that's been a couple weeks ago. Thanks for any help.

yea man you need new pads to get rid of the noise because i doubt its to roters.they're probably loose and wearing uneven.

Yeah mines are now starting to make a squeaky noise now. We did and seem to be getting alot of rain so Ill have to test them when its been dry for a few days. I think it might be time for new pads.

-This is almost retarded. I took it to the shop and the mechanic found out it was the left rear brake making the noise. He put it on the lift and pulled the drum. He told me the shoes look almost like new, but they had a little glaze on them. All he did was take a small scratch pad and go over the shoes on each side of the car. Scuffed them up a bit bit cleaned the insides of the drums. It took all of about 25-30 minutes and $15. Nice and quiet now. And $15 is a small price to pay for the car not annoying me anymore when braking. Now just an oil/filter change, air filter and new wiper blades and she's all ready to head back down to Myrtle Beach in 4 weeks. Man can I hear the surf calling my name!!
