Default 2009 RAM vs Chev Tahoe

First post on this forum and have to say I'm learning a lot about the new Ram trucks. I know this is a Dodge forum but I want some opinions on my next vehicle purchase. I'm looking at either a new crew cab Ram or a slightly used Tahoe for about the same money. I really like the Ram but I'm not sure if the short box is very useful where the Tahoe is enclosed and keeps things warm and more secure. Any experience with the 07 / 08 Tahoe? Plus about the Ram is warranty and like I said new vs buying slightly used. Any opinions?

It boils down to what you want in a vehicle. One is a truck with a short box. The other is a SUV. Do you need to haul dirt, tall items? If all you want to do is haul passengers and luggage then the Tahoe may be a better choice. I don't think you really can compare the two. A used Tahoe for basically the same price as a new09 ram crew cab?

You can always enclose the bed on the Ram. You can get something like a Leer cap and it will pretty much look like a SUV or you can get a tonneau cover or a bakflip and then still be able to haul dirt and tall items. Just search the forum.

I would have to vote for the Dodge. The Hemi is much nicer than the 5.3L Chevy.

I'm in a leased 07 Ram now and really like it. It's nothing compared to the loaded 09 I have on order, however, I was going to purchase my next vehicle so I wanted to make an informed decision and check out my options. I considered this to be fun because I usually knew what I wanted and just went out a bought it.

I tried looking at the Tahoe but none of the Chevy dealers had any in stock. I couldn't believe it. They ran the numbers for me anyway based on some that were in the computer built but not delivered. With incentives the price was outrages! Like you said, a used Tahoe compared to a new Ram.

The new Crew Cab gives you plenty of room and the usefulness of owning a pickup exceeds that of a SUV.

The new Ram is very luxurious when equipped right.

Go with the Ram hands down! Oh yea... did I mention Lifetime Power Train Warranty and the ability to add a Lifetime Extended warranty for almost everything else!

Don't let the Employee ++ promotion pass you by.

I was thinking the same. We always go to florida thats a 21hr drive. We are always making trips and said to myself what abuot the luggage? Well just decided why not get a bed rug and a cover for the bed. That answred my question. Everything in bed high and dry and everyone comfty in the cab. Only reason I could see is choose the tahoe for more sitting.

The third row in a Tahoe sucks. And when you have it in, there's basically no storage space anyways. If you're going to need 3 rows you should look at getting a Traverse (it actually has more room) or a Suburban/Expedition.

All you have to do is DRIVE the 09 Ram and your choice will be made for you. My wife was all up my a** trying to get me to buy a Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon Denali..I drove them all. No disrespect to the GM folks....but the Ram drove better than them all. I got a Black 09 crew cab sport with Nav, sidesteps, chrome pacakge, Truxedo cover and bedliner....It fits my two kids and my wife and I with plenty of room. This is my second Ram...I thought I was a GM guy growing up...but I was just kidding myself. I say Ramit!

Just got a 09 Ram. Had lot of GM, but this ram is awesome. Big bad boy. Great incentives, great warranty. Sweet ride this year. You can't go wrong

got my new ram two weeks ago, silver 09 sport crew 4x4. like you guys, thought i was a gm guy after having a 02 silverado and loving it, but my next one was a 07 ram 2500.

long story short, the gm guys wouldn't even try to make a reasonable offer on my 2500, so i went to the dodge place and they flat out blew the other dealers out of the water. that combined with my wife liking the looks of the dodge better than anything gm has sealed the deal.

now i just need the money now to customize it the way i like.

Thanks for all the input. Have to go test drive the new 09's and see for myself what you guys are so impressed with! I sure like the idea of the lifetime warranty and also the max care plan covering most everything. Went to the Dodge web site and "built my truck", seems like a heck of alot more truck than my 96 Ram 1500 that I paid $25k for.
