Default Want to change out Shocks

Just wondered if anyone has changed out the wimpy factory shock absorbers yet on a non-lifted truck? If so, what brand did you use. I've had edelbrock in the past and they are a little stiff and the Bilstein's on my STR8 Jeep are really rough so just looking for something in between.

No idea man,
BUT awesome question and I'd love to know the same. So if there is anyone out there who can post about it, that would be great.

Ames, IA here.

Why are they wimpy? Towing? Off-roading??

Hello Ames! I was at Hickory Park yesterday. I feel the bump rebounds more than I do with premium aftermarket shocks. Maybe I'm too sensitive?

Hickory Park has some tasty food!

I just realized my TRX-4 has different shocks than the standard 4x4's. I didn't test drive a regular one, only the TRX-4's. Maybe mine rides differently?

WELL, the Ram brochure says the TRX has extra heavy-duty rear shocks. Maybe that is a solution? I think you can feel the front tires rebound more than you should and I'm getting old so I like a more controlled feeling if it's possible? Too many rough roads on these bones.

Through a lot of research today I found new Edelbrock shocks for the 2009 Ram. They are for stock to 2" lift height. They are called VS-3 and are a brand new shock for the Ram and Tundra. Suppose to be a smooth ride and lifetime warranty. Cost about $75 each! Part #'s front 33118, rear 34118. I may order them. Anyway, hope this helps.
