Default Improved Mileage...air intake.

not a new topic..but thought some of you may be interested.

I was getting 15, maybe 16 on freeway. Added XDI True Flow intake. It really improved the throttle response, and opened the exhaust sound nicely. But I just drove the truck form Detroit area to south florida, and back. Got 18.8 mpg going down and 19 coming back.

How much of that is due to engine break-in (truck now has over 6000 after trip) - -can't say. But I was pleasantly surprised by those results.

And by the way--that truck was awesome driving 22 straight hours--through the mountains, heavy rains, temp changes. Was so smooth and strong. Great truck--just needs a tune to get it to shift the way it can.

Was the initial 15/16mpg in your city HWY driving, or a comparable 22 hour trip? Long trips will provide much better mileage because of less breaking and more cruising.

Did you install the XDI yourself? Was it difficult? And how much?

Nice truck!!

Do you mean it has an intake howl?

Nice truck too I was getting 15/16 on the freeway--looking at both an instant look and hour or so trip. Same with the 18/19...it started with the instant look as soon as I left, and the finished number, was 18/19.

Installed myself-took about 30 minutes..not too bad. For those of you who are good with tools--probably less.

I have yet to have the computer mpg reading be close to what is hand calculated. I always reset when I fill up and note the gallons and milage. Sometimes the computer underestimates and others its over estimates my 2 or more mpg. Still breaking in the truck best I've gotten is 17 (highway), worst 12.5 (in town)

22.4 is pretty awesome. Is your great fuel economy mostly from the tonneau cover or mostly from the new air intake? Or by stock exhaust mode did you mean that you got the mileage before adding the air intake?

Being a Canadian truck, is that what the EVIC reads? I figured it would at least read Deg. C for the temp?

My gas milage went up 2 mpg with the XDI.

yea, its the intake you can hear. I happen to like that music. Only when its under load do you hear it inside.

The computer for gas milage can be easily fooled. I can run my GTO up to 140 MPH...drop it neutral...set the computer and wala 90 mpg. Coast down to 75 drop it in 6th gear. Just playing.
Averages out to 37 mpg or so after 20 or so miles at 75.
Would eventually go back to 23 mpg...if I keep my foot out of it.
