Plug Change
I know it's early for the 09, but has anyone had their plugs changed at the 30,000 mile service recommendation?
Since I use the dealer for all maintenance does anyone have an idea what this will cost? 16 plugs plus labor does not sound good. I can call them and ask, but thought I would throw it out here first.
One more thing: Will the use of platinum plugs thus extending the need for replacement be an issue with the dealer as far as warranty. I just had my wifes plugs changed at 105,000 miles on her ford. You can see where I am going. Why change at 30K when you can get plugs that will last 100K?
Thanks

I'll use platinum when the time comes.Unless a plug breaks or seizes in the head or causes a misfire I can see no warranty issues.Heck that could happen with Champion's.In fact a tech at the Dodge store I bought at said the Rep said when the time comes use platinum and not worry until 100k.
That's backwards. The 5.7 Hemi has 16 plugs.
Trying to find that in the service manual, all I can see under hood is 4 coil packs in each valve cover. EDIT: OK, there are 2 plugs side by side under each coil pack. So both the Hemi and 4.7L have 16 plugs, just in a different configuration.
For sure the 4.7 has 16 plugs in 2 banks. Goofy setup with 1 directly attached to each coil pack and another attached to a plug wire coming off each coil pack.

I thought only the plugs that run during the MDS get changed more often on the 5.7.
Yes, both engines have 16 plugs from what I was reading.

Yes the 5.7L has 16 plugs I know this as fact. Changed them on my 06 ram. This is not a fun job, very difficult when changing them under the brake booster. Each coil pack runs two plugs. And the 06 came from the factory with champion plugs (yuck) I put Autolite Platinum plugs and was a little pricey, but gas mileage did good up like 1.0-1.2.
