Question offroad/sand capability of trx?

I'm looking to purchase a new TRX with a 5.7, 3.92, and 275/70 17's and was wondering if anyone has experience with the 09 in sand or mud? My initial impression is that the tires are a little small even aired down to float a full size truck and that the ground clearance (7.7") isn't enough. I was wondering if anyone has put on 33's and if that would give enough lift and float? Or is it fine stock? Other than tires and maybe exhaust, I'd like to keep it stock...
Thanks!

Well, 275/70R17's are actually 32.2 inches tall. So, putting on a true 33 will give you .4 inches more of ground clearance and .8 inches more in tire height. I say true 33 because 33s are really 32-34ish inches tall, depending on the brand.

The good news is that 35x12.50s fit, stock. You will probably want a new wheel since the stocker is only a 17x7 and in my opinion too skinny for a 12.50.

The other good news is that you can lift the truck with spacers. 2.5" in the front and 3/4" in the rear, for less than 150$.

I live in Hawaii and take my truck out in the sand 3-4 times a month and have yet to get stuck. This truck's sand capabilities have truly amazed me. 4Lo has such a ridiculous amount of power, the stock tires and rims have done me fine. Just FYI, this isnt friendly sand either, it's really thick, deep, and loose. I have only seen 6 or 7 full size trucks out there in the last 4 years, all others were toyotas, jeeps, or samurai's.

Default thanks!

Thanks for the pep talk, I'll try it stock and if need be, add bigger tires and maybe a 2" lift from Rough Country...

if you get the trx4, it's 1" higher then other models. A 2" lift from rough country will only raise it 1" - more of a leveling kit. just some info for ya is all.

if you go that route, go with readylift sst kit. up's the rear 1.5 and levels the front. other kits only level the front or offers 3/4 rear.

also, if you get the trx4 and do want to buy a level kit, call the company first. I've seen a lot of sites state that their level kit will not work on trx4 models.
