Default predator..

This is probably a dumb question, but i ordered the predator from a link someone posted on here..moes performance..and it came with a thermostat? What is it/what is it used for?

BTW, great people...I ordered it yesterday afternoon, had it in less than 24hrs free shipping.

Thanks!

Some use a cooler thermostat to help with performance. I believe the standard thermostat is over 200 degrees and many are putting in 180 degree thermostats. So looks like you're all set.

I believe that the tune Diablo wrote was done with the stock tstat. I am not sure about the tuning in these trucks. 180* might throw a code. Going to a cooler tstat will allow you to run a little more timing without getting detonation. The subject has been vastly debated as to whether or not it will actually increase HP. It will almost certainly lower MPG's, but probably not by much.

I don't know if I would install or not. I doubt if anyone in my neck of the woods would want to install a 180 degree thermostat because it gets mighty cold here in the winter. I guess it's up to you cause you paid for it.

If you run the 93 octane tune, it would be wise to go to the 180 therm. It will still get plenty warm for the heater. I run 165 and still get warm in southern weather.
