My exhaust smells like its a burnin!!!
I first noticed a strong metallic burning smell at around 900 miles. I was going up an average hill that is 1/4 mile long and doing 50 mph. I had my side window cracked just a hair and the rear slider open. This acts as a vortex and sucked that troubling smell right in. I pulled over and it was still stinkin. I checked for any plastic wrapping or stickers and found none. took it to the dealer. The service writer took it up a hill with me riding shotgun and again it was a stinkin. believe me he was smellin it. they racked it and said "oh it looked like there was some labels on here and maybe some factory coatings are still wearing off". said there would be a record of it.
It still smells. Pretty sad when you pull next to a newer vehicle and it smells like it's on fire. Happens when I need to just give it a little extra gas for a hill. I'm now at 1200 miles and I don't hot rod it. It's a 5.7 with the dual exhaust. Anybody else or any help would be appreciated. Kirk

I tried turning off the hill assist but it still smells. It also makes alot of pinging noises(expanding/contracting). I know some car exhausts tend to make noises of this type but my cars never did it even while cooling down. Any other suggestions?
