Nice, huh? You would think in 2009 this would not be a problem and isn't for most manufacturers. This is the first vehicle I have ever had with this problem. Just curious, but is your A/C unit the standard manual type or is it the climate control. Mine is the standard manual type. The only way I have been able to stop this is turn it off and blow it out running the fan on High for about 5 minutes. You can also turn on the heater to dry it out as well. I believe it is possible they have a generic problem with these A/C units, but I am sure nothing will be done. I was worried running in defrost mode would cause the problem since the compressor comes on in this mode. Interestingly enough, it doesn't. Not sure why not. This is my first Dodge and it will most likely be my last due to this A/C smell issue. I will go back to Chevys which never had this problem. Oh well. Live and learn.

In the summer you could just run the fan on high with the ac off just like you do now it doesnt have to be on hot just aslong as the ac is off I hate dealing with problems on a new vehicule its frustrating because no matter what the dealer or car company always denys that they have had other complaints and act like it was the first one

I get the best results when I don't use the recirculate mode as often, but the smell is still unacceptable.
Makes me miss my Chevy every time I smell it.

I had a similar problem with an 06 tacoma. It was a pluged drain line for the condensor. I thought I read somewhere where that was what the problem was on someones 09 Dodge. Can't remember the link, sorry.

call me crazy, but my girl told me to turn off the fan every time before I turn the truck off... it works. I have the standard climate control, whether it's circulate or not it works for me. If I forget to do it, when I start my truck and the fan kicks on - i'll smell the stagnant air or filter until it clears out.

give it a try, have nothing to lose.
