Question Bull Rings

Has anyone else added Bull Rings to their 4th Gen yet? I'm talking about the pop up tie-down rings that bolt into the stake pockets. I mostly added mine just to cover up the open stake pockets in the rear. (Never understood why Dodge did that.) Anyhow, they look great and are very functional. But, the weird thing is that when I pull up on them the bed side of the plastic bed cap seems to pull up a little. This leads me to believe that the C-clamp that secures them in isn't seated under the metal portion of the bed rail. Problem is the way you install them means you have no real way to look and see if they are seated right.

So, I figured I'd see if anyone else had tried this and ran into the same issue. I still haven't taken out the tail lights to see if I can get a better view so I can try that after this friggin monsoon passes. Thanks.

I use to have the eyelets that were attached to a big rubber block and you just spun them and it squashed the rubber, they moved alot when strapping in my dirtbike, so installed bolt-on stainless d rings in side the bed with stainless screws, alot more secure and the chrome eyelets were just for looks and to cover the stake holes after that.

I installed mine and used a bosch dremel to trim the plastic even with the body or you can use a sheet rock knife. After the trim it will not lift up anymore.

Mine seem to go in fine in the front, could not get them to seat against the metal in the rear, the pocket seems to deep. Maybe the trimming will work.

Had the exact same problem installing pop-up bull rings. The plastic sleeve of the rail cap that fits into the metal pockets are longer than the metal. I had to trim all of that with a knife. It wasn't easy and wasn't pretty, but the bull ring covers everything. Using a dremel might be easier than using a knife. But beware that the clamp the way you have it installed now will fail if you put a load on it. These are great once installed properly and I use them all the time. Good-luck!

Yup, that makes sense. Ok, it doesn't make sense they designed it that way. But, it explains the problem. Looks likes I's gots some trimming to do. Ugh! Thanks for the help guys!
