Default Clear Coat

It wasn't stated on the window sticker or in the owners manual. Does my '09 Ram 1500 have a clear coat?
My '03 F150 did. The paint is Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl.
Thanks,
Jack

I could be mistaken, but I though all modern paint jobs were Base coat/ Clear coat. At least for regular auto manufacturers.

I think so too. I don't think they paint them any other way these days.

Although I hate that the base and clear coats are so VERY thin. That has been a sore spot with me for years when it comes to factory paint from any manufacturer.

Does your black scratch when a piece of dust hits it? I have a 09 brilliant black and every time I turn around it has another scratch, thought it may be defective but dealer said factory puts thin coat of paint, then clear.

I have had my Black '09 for exactly one year. I don't see any scratches at all.

Scratches in the clear have nothing to do with the thickness. Has to to with how you maintain your finish.
