brakes
Just finished installing new brakes, front and rear. I was able to get 47,000 miles out of the original brake pads. There are no sensors to let you know when the pads are low, and what is odd is that the front and rear where both down to about an 1/8 of and inch of pad life left. Alot easier then my Ford F 150.
No sensors is quite odd. Then again, are other domestics similar? Only worked on imports and have never seen a pad without that sheet metal scraper.
Did you go with the stock pads, Akebono ceramics or another aftermarket pad?

I went to the dealership and picked up a set of pads front and rear and it costed me 103.00 dollars. Afterwards I spoke with the parts guy and he said the pads I purchased were value line pads from Mopar. He also said there was a more expensive pad for 90.00 per axle (which I probably would have gone for had he mentioned it) but I eneded up putting in the value line, hope they last just as long. And no scrapper or sensor on any pad.
Thanks for the info on the upgraded factory pad availability. I'll have to do some research now and figure out what they're made outa. As for the value line pads - is that what we have stock to begin with?
Not sure, but the parts guy said that those are the replacement pads that they use when doing pads on the 1500. My Ford F 150 needed pads after 19,000 miles then I installed a heavy duty pad and it warped the rotor. The brakes on the Dodge are far superior to the Ford.
Can I ask what did you do with the Rotors did you replace or have resurfaced or just take the glaze off and install new pads? I have already had them appart once because they were loud from dust. Are the Value pads Ceramic? Thanks ahead of time.

I used a 60 grit sand paper in a circular motion and just took the glazing off on both sides and they are fine. The value pads are not ceramic but appear to be metal pads. If these pads last me 40,000 miles then I would be happy. My next brake job I will replace the rotors. On my Ford I had to replace the rotors on every brake job due to them warping, and every time I had them cut they would warp even quicker. I'll get a part number on my next post.
