Default aftermarket wheel & tire question

I just bought stock '10 ram 4x4. Came with 17" wheels. I'm going to buy aftermarket 20" wheels & tires. I'd like tires to stick out past fenders approx. 1"-2" to get the wide stance. So the questions I have is two part. What size wheel should I buy to get the stance I want? What size tire to put on them so they fill up the wheel well but doesn't rub? I don't want to do any kind of lift. Any help with this would be great. I'm at a loss on what sizes I need.

Thanks, Rummy

I ran 305/55R20 terra grapplers on my last truck. with i think they were 1/4" wheel spacers. Perfect set up, nice wide tread. However if I could go back I would definitely step it up a series and go 305/60, as the 55s sat thinner than the factor 20's and goodyears.

I think something around that ranger is exactly what your looking for. wish I had pictures, but it was definitely a wide foot print. anything less than 295 and I dont think you'll be happy

I bought some black steelies and BFgoodrich Winter Slalom KSI 17 inch OEM size tires, they are about 3 inches shorter in height than the 20 OEM's and well the width I should have gotten 17x8 but went with 17x7 but it snowed that day and well only real reason I put them on was I don't want the new warranty replaced Chrome Clads to rot again, 2 years exactly really only about one winter since I got it Mar 09, the dealer washes it, expecially in the winter so hard time for them to refuse the warranty. They did not give me any trouble they just tried to remove the corrosion but did not get it done so new rims. What a waste, funny thing too I said what about the painted aluminum so I don't have this issue again even though they are cheaper they said no, they have to put what was there. So I took them off, I am considering painting them black, can you imagine what they would say if I drove in with the new rims painted black I could have done that with the corroded ones. Well they should know about the issue anyway. It is the brake dust the kills them and then once it eats thru it allows salt and whatever road grime to take it's toll.

If you're getting aftermarket wheels, just make sure they have a negative offset and they will stick out.

Well for our lug pattern (5x5.5 or 5x139.7) the most common one I seen was -12. I think with all the looking I did that was your only real option. There might have been a handful with a different negative offset. I don't have mine installed yet, but mine are -12. It should give you what you're looking for.
