spark plug replacement question
I was in at the dealer ship the other day and the service tech was telling me that the spark plugs needed to be replaced after 48 000 km which is what i am at right now, i know that they recomend this but is it really nessasary at this time what are the pro s and cons of this service at this time?

I can tell you that stock spark plug gap is 1.09mm. When I removed my spark plugs at 30,000 miles. The spark plug gap ranged from 1.18mm-1.20mm. It my eyes is was a total waste of my time and money.
When I installed the new OEM spark plugs, I gapped them at 1.00mm and will not look at them for 60,000 miles now.

yup 50,000 km is the sugested change intervile on the hemi Ram, all 16 sparkys, I can't speak for the new gen trucks, but a 06 hemi sparky change is great fun.
Oem plugs on my 06 are champions, copper, as far as I know copper plugs are still standard issue on the hemi, now to throw some oil on the fire, SRT hemi engines run platt plugs and the rule of thumb is to stick with crapp copper plugs, on the 06 hemis I know guys who use platt plugs and have no issues ( trucks are off warenty )
To keep your warrenty, you have to run copper plugs, Im convinced platt plugs will not harm a hemi, all thow in Canada, we pay a lot for platt plugs.

NGK Platiumn plugs are copper CORE. the only difference in Platiumn and standard is the TIP of the spark plug. The Platiumn is a harder metal and wears slower then the less exspensive tip of the standard plug.
Don't think they are. If the book say 30k for replacment thats it. Like a air filter. Its not 3/36.

i changed mine at 45,000 miles and they showed only minimal wear but i wouldnt want to go any longer.also switching to a platinum plug will not void any warranty as long as they are the correct plug (heat range)for the motor
Platinum is not harder than copper. It is definitely softer, like gold. Gold and platinum are alloyed with copper or silver, to make them harder. By themselves, they are way too soft for many applications.
