Have some troubles with ticking. Need some help...
I got my dodge ram 4x4 crew cab 5.7l hemi in August of 2010, it currently has 23000 kms. It has ben in the shop now for 23 straight days. It went in with a ticking sound, to me it sounded like lifters. To date they have replaced the lifters 3 times, push rods twice, and cant make the sound go away. When they start it and just idle it is good, after a test drive noisy ticking again. THe latest answer was there is an oil delivery problem. The dealership told me that they want to replace the motor with a new short block rather than the long block that it came with. I was told that Dodge does not supply long block replacement engines. Does anyone have any ideas the truth to this? Any and all ideas welcome.
If it was the "older" HEMI from a 3rd gen (2003-2008), I'd say you simply had a case of the "HEMI tick" which is normal and just needs to be ignored. Not sure if the newer HEMI engines suffer the same tick sound.
Will move this over to the 4th gen section (2009+ Rams), get you some additional help.

I know the 2009's had a ticking sound that was related to a manifold bolt that needed to be replaced. Had this done on mine although I never heard the tick. It was an RRT. Possibly moved into the 2010's too? I'd have them replace all the manifold bolts if they haven't done that already. Definitely cheaper than another set of lifters.
