Is investing in a CAI kit worth the performance/mpg increase? Or am I better off just replacing my factory air filter with a higher flowing one?

you'll gets lots of opinions on that question, no proven dyno posts I have found. I would and did get one, it was a draw between the k&n and the AFE, since they had the most 'manufacturers' claimed HP and TQ increase. Only reason I did the AFE is that you had a choice of filters and it was a highflow dry filter setup. the cai along with a free flow muffler should help the hemi breath easier, I am now looking to get a magnaflow Y pipe to remove that crushed stock Y and be done with intake and exhaust mods to this truck.

when i was at wyotech we did a lot with this kind of stuff. cai claims are never rwhp and the gains are very small. not much of a change with a cat back and really not much more with headers. a cai doesnt do a whole lot until you go to a bigger throttle body and do headwork then they start to be a big advantage.

I had stock, K&N drop in and now a K&N CAI. I should have stopped at the drop in. I did not notice any difference from the drop in to the CAI other than noise.

If no serious mods leave it alone and use quality air filters like what came in it. From what I have read the factory air intake design flows pretty good as is.
