Default Getting "Flashed" at the dealer.

So I complained that my truck was not flashed and that my speedometer would be wrong and that my fuel mileage sucked etc, to a salesman at the dealer. He took me over and told the service manager to "hook me up" with a flash. So on Saturday I am taking the truck in to be "flashed".

Is there anything I should ask for specifically or just let him do what he will do? Even if I ask I dont know that he would do anything extra but I figure it is worth a shot.

What do you think the PCM flash will accomplish?

I have all of the TSBs for the 2010 Rams and none refer to any speedo or fuel economy issues.

the OP asked a question, "Is there anything I should ask for specifically or just let him do what he will do?" Some members have responded. I suggest you should constrain your post comments, unless you have something benifical to say.

My two cents are when you take your vehicle in I would described the issues you have, poor mpg. Let the service manager decide / recommend course of action. Not sure what mpg you are getting, but you are driving a truck. Unless your way off of the epa estimates, doubt they can do much for you.

From what I can tell is when he bought the truck the dealer had placed different tires and wheels on the truck (34.7) Now his speedo may be off.

ROFLMAO!!!! Thanks for all the hilarious posts.
Sking you are correct. Oversized tires makes the speedo wrong. A salesman asked me how I like the tires and leveling it. I said its great except the speedo is off and my fuel mileage sucks. He said the PCM should of been recalibrated before I drove away. When I told him it was not and they wanted to chatge me, he walked over to service and had them schedule me in.

So I assumed I would get some other ideas on what to ask for but obviously I asked the wrong question. Now If they can make my truck see ***** then yeah....I will take that program too.

That's cool, I really wasn't being sarcastic with my post, I was just wondering what you thought you'd accomplish with a PCM flash.

I associate a "flash" as an update, or basically overwriting the PCM with a new "tune". A speedometer recalibration is basically going into that section of the ScanTool and selecting a different tire size...

I'll tell you one setting I'd change if I had an '06+ Ram with a TIPM, is I'd select having the fog lights stay on with the high beams, but that's about the only change I can think of. I have the old fashioned relays and fuses (there are advantages and disadvantages with both styles) and had to do some creative wiring between relays, but it's just a setting on the ScanTool when you have a TIPM...

LOL, by no means was any offense taken on my end from ANY of the replies. I mean this is the internet and an open forum and I rarely post as I prefer to read other posts. I called it a flash but maybe it will just be a speedo recalibration and nothing more. Im hoping for more but it probably wont occur. Like I was trying ot say, I didnt even really ask for it but I figure if it is free then hell yes go ahead and git-r-done.
I dont have the fogs lights on my ride..
He told me it would take a few hours though and to leave the truck so they can work it in on their Saturday schedule. So maybe I will get moree than the speedo recalibration???? Im assuming thre are some performance tunes out there but sont know if a dealer would do that or not.
