Default Debadged and paint suntanned

I decided to debadge the RAM logo and TRX offroad sticker on my 2010 Dodge.

Was able to remove the badges fairly easily and the sticker was very easy to remove. My issue now after washing the truck a few times and applying wax to the area is that the areas where the badge and sticker were appear to be a different shade then the rest of the truck.

Specifically you can still see RAM and it is definitely a different color. Not sure how to fix this and wondering if the letters will have to go back on.

(I debadged except I left the Hemi logo on the side)

Try a light rubbing compound followed by some swirl remover like 3m Finese it with a wool pad then apply some good polish and then a carnuba based wax.

If it's darker, the surrounding paint has faded - it won't buff out.

How old is the truck? Is it spending a lot of time in the sun?

I think I hear the Warranty bell ringing..

if the paint has faded and depending on the year of the truck and your mileage. the dealer "may" work with you. (There is no wording in the warranty stating that removal of badging will void warranty)

I had a Chrysler PTCruiser about 7 years ago and there are was defect in both bumpers and the dealer replaced both bumpers at no cost to me.

I was nervous about this when I debadged. Truck was a year old when I did this and it took about a month before I couldn't see where the RAM letters had been. So my advice is to give it a month or so before you decide to put them back on. What color is your truck? Depending on the wax that was on the truck, it may not simply wash off with regular detergents. You may need something stronger to get to the clear coat. But obviously be careful!

its a 2010 maroon (dark red) and beige with 18K miles on it. What's crazy is that where the letters were the paint appears to be lighter in color then the rest of the truck. I live in New Mexico and we get lots of sun. After one day it appears that its slowly starting to match. In bright sun its very noticeable but I think I'm going to give it a month or so and see what happens.

Debating about relocating the Hemi 5.7L badge from the side of the truck to the hood. Thinking it would look pretty sic having it on the engine where is slopes on the sides. Any opinions or others that have done??

The key when you debadge is to NOT wax the area under the badging or decals for a few days. The rest of the truck has been in the sun for how long? Naturally it's gonna be faded to some degree where the paint that was covered is not. Wax has UV inhibitors, so it will resist fading from the sun. When the area is faded to the point where it matches the rest of the truck (usually just a few days in direct sunlight), then start waxing the area.

The discoloration being lighter is actually due to the paint under the badging not being fully cured. The adhesive is able to hold the reducers in the paint which is why the color will eventually match the rest of the truck once its been uncovered for a while. If the color under the badge was a darker color then it would be from fading.
