Default C-Clips

Hi everyone,

I just traded my 2005 quad cab 4x4 on a 2011 outdoorsman edition crew cab. Let me say WOW, what an improvement!! I loved my 2005 but this 2011 Ram is AWESOME!!!

My 2005 did not have a LSD diff. The 2011 does. My question is, do the 4th gen rams still have issues with the C-Clips that I've read about in the 3rd gen section?

If they do, are there certain conditions that make them more likely to fail? What can I do to prevent it?

Thanks.

ps. I don't have any pics yet as it is at the dealer right now getting undercoated and scotchguarded. I'll post some pics tomorrow evening when I get it back.

The rear axle is still C-Clip. I'm at 76k and everything is fine back there. Ive bent an axle shaft in by clipping a curb in the snow and the c clip came out and went in just fine.

That's good to know, I'm hoping that because I don't do any serious offroading and I'm pretty gentle with my stuff, I'll have no problems.

Any other info that people can give me would be great.

I think the poster is asking about the clips inside the LSD (clutch packs), not the ones that hold the axles to the carrier.

Correct! Sorry I wasn't very clear in my question.

I have read several forums somewhat regular. No mention of any failures other then loose pinion nuts. C/clips brought up but no one mentions any issues.

Good to know! When I found out my new truck had a LSD rear end, the first thing I thought of were all those threads about C-clips!
