Default iPhone to RER radio

Could someone help. I'm trying to use my iPhone for input to my RER stereo in a 2010 Ram. I searched the forum and it appears, I need to buy a Mopar 82212001 cable. Does this cable plug into the iPod connection in the upper glove box or the USB or the accessory jack?

Do I even need this cable or is there another better way to input from the iPhone. Thanks for the help.

just use your white cable that comes with the phone if you have the USB in the glovebox. If you do not have the USB in the glovebox then yes your going to have to by that "converter" cable.

If you just want to run music, no charging, or controlling the iphone from the deck. Then yes you can use the aux. But as far as I was concerned all the new trucks 2010 and up were being equipped with USBs in the glovebox.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the info. I don't see a USB in the glove box, mine is on the face of the radio above the aux jack. In the glove box is a connection with a plastic cap which says iPod. When the cap is opened, there is a series of male connections. I thought the Mopar cable would connect to this and the iPhone would stay in the glove box.

I would rather the phone stay on the console so I don't get out of the truck without it. So from what you are saying, just plug the iPhone white USB cable into the front of the stereo and it will work. Thanks.

no it will only work if you are connecting it into the glove box. The usb on the frong is only for firmware updates and media streaming (up to 16GB devices flash memory only) In my sport there is a usb slot which I could plug ipods/phones into. I could then control the ipod right from my deck controls, it would also keep it charged. BUT seeing as how I don't own any kind of fruit for a phone (haha) I don't use it. I have a HDD plugged in there for media streaming instead.

If you want to leave your iphone in the console your best bet is to get a dock for it that has an auxiliary out. You can get ones that plug into the cig lighter. I would just buy one of those and put it in the 12 v plug that is in the console, then run the aux out to the deck. That way you get a charging system for your phone and the music to your deck. You will loose music quality by going to aux tho, vs it being direct.

Unfortunately without that mopar cable and the fact that you don't want to leave the phone in the glovebox your out of luck. I suppose you could look for an extension for that mopar cable to extend out of your glovebox, but I doubt you will find.

Well if the USB on the radio does not work and the aux isn't as good as the connection in the glove box, I would give up the having the phone on the console at times for another source of music. I use the phone too much for it to be in the glove box constantly. I guess that's what the Mopar cable is for at the glove box connection.

Any experience with the iPhone connection that sends out an FM signal to your stereo?

The aux is not as good as any direct connection, however it will be better then an FM signal...

No all my stuff is always streamed via usb

For the RER radio you will need an adapter cable, I did a quick check because I didn't think Chrysler parts dept was still offering it and there's a guy on eBay with one.

I bought an aux cable and plugged it in the glove box and then ran the cable behind the dash and brought it out at the back of the console. I now can hook up my Ipod and leave it on the console instead of having it in the glove box. I also have the RER radio and Nav system

I ordered the cable off eBay and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Seems the cable is only 12" long. In order to run it to the console, I'm going to have to get some type of extension. I would rather have it on the console than in the glove box.

Thanks for the information. When you say that you bought an "aux" cable, are you referring to the 3.5 mil headphone type cable?
