Default Star Case - Transmission noise - For those that are still looking for this info

Star Case: #S1121000005

Release Date: 6/30/11

Symptom/Vehicle Issue:
Customer indicates that the vehicle has a slight moan, drone, or rattle noise and sounds as though it is coming from the exhaust, The customer may indicate that the noise occurs under light load (1400 - 1700 engine rpm - around 40 to 60 mph)

Diagnosis:
Confirm that the noise only occurs while the torque converter is in lock-up at low speeds (around 1400 - 1700 engine RPM) at approximately 45 mph. If the noise is heard while transmission is in partial lock-up at 1400 - 1700 RPM, put the vehicle into ERS - Tow/Haul mode (deactivates MDS and torque converter in full lock-up) If the noise is unchanged, perform the following repair procedure. If the noise goes away in ERS mode, further diagnosis is required. If the noise occurs above 1700 RPM or below 1400 RPM, further diagnosis is required.

Try this. I had the T/C replaced and the noise is gone. this is the only fix for the trottle rattle.

You attached a copy of a picture that i had posted quite awhile back.
I couldnt upload the picture in here again, so i typed it out word for word and posted it for everybody.
So basically, the picture is exactly what i posted, but written out, easier to read and understand.
And yes, you are correct, it DOES fix the torque converter issue,
but does it fix the "buzzing vibration" sensation going on with the steering wheel, gas pedal, drivers seat..???

Reason i ask is, (ther is MORE than one issue with these 4th gen trucks)
alot of these 4th gen trucks have a vibration that is felt thru the steering wheel, gas pedals, drivers seats. I`m wondering if you had any issues with that as well as the torque converter issue. Seems to be hit an miss with these trucks, some do it, some dont. So i`m tring to do some research and see if anyone with the buzzing issue, that replaced the TC, and the buzz is permenatly gone or not.

LU229,

I never noticed a "lot" of vibration thru the steering wheel, gas pedal, wheel etc... My truck does exhibit some vibration but nothing to point that irritates me or is noticable to my passengers. I figure it's a truck with a 5.7L Hemi in it, it won't ride or sound like a cadilac. The trottle rattle was definitely abnormal to me.

BTW, I wasn't trying to take credit for your picture you posted a while back with torque converter information. I was trying to pass the word and gouge out, it reallly help me with the dearlership and getting my T/C replaced.

Ohhh no no no no, dont take it as though i was mad for you copying it, i`m glad you did..!!!!!
It just proves that what i wrote and posted wasnt made up just by me.
If anything, THANK YOU for posting the picture...! I couldnt get mine to upload.

As for a truck ridin like a cadillac,
i sooooo totally agree...! These things are TRUCKS, they`re NOT supposed to be cadillacs, but some people take these trucks right out of context. If a person wanted a cadillac ride, then that person should have bought a cadillac instead of a truck.

I can deal with a small amount of vibrations too, but some people dont realize that ther is actually 2 issues going on. The hemi engine DOES have a some frequency vibes that can never be fully cured, its nature of the beast. But that torque converter rattle is something just unacceptable.
