Default H.I.D question

I have a 09 ram 1500 i want to install H.I.D head lights. Will i need a HID Canceller Capacitor for my truck or no. If some one with this model of truck who had some installed tell me if the lights flickerd or showed an error code without the HID Canceller Capacitor?

I have not heard of flickering at all on the new ones. However most guys are using standard to good quality kits, not cheap ebays. I do also know that if you don't use the canceler you will get a lamp out light in the dash.

There is a DIY for HIDs in the DIY section of this forum. Check it out.

I went w/ Retro-Solutions HID kit w/ a RAM Specific Harness and I have ZERO issues w/ flickering as well as HID fog lights...they are sweet! But I am also running Projectors from JJ at Retro Shop.

You will also need projectors. HIDS in halogen reflectors produce tons of blinding glare.

Depends on what your looking at spending...some HID kits off EBAY are cheap as dirt and crap, or you could fork out over 100 for a kit w/ specific harness's and get far better quality and better customer service.

Then if you wanted projectors, did you plan on doing the work yourself or plan on buying a set? Cheaper sets are all over the internet or you could get a custom set for prob. a couple hundred more...

hey guys I just got a new 11 ram and want to put hids in it. Where do most of you guys get your kit from? I thought about http://www.kryptonbulbs.com/index.php?route=common/home (Which I have got lights from and they worked good)or DDM. What k are most of you guys running? I was thinking 4300k or 5000K. Also what all will I need extra? I did not need anything for my 95 ram but needed resistors for my 07.

you will not have drls anymore...I made a DIY in the DIY subsection...

Problem is the DRL is just your high beam on a restricted voltage, usually around 3-4V
The ballasts require 12V, if it does not get that it will not light.
This is why if you look at my DIY I have wired in LEDs to imitate DRLs.

JUST A NOTE. If your going to go with projectors you need to make sure that the lens will be rated for HID temp. If your looking at EBAY light, MOST to ALL of them will not be rated for HIDS. So just a heads up, some guys have been lucky by putting them in. Problem is if they are not rated you will void any warranty.
