How Soon Can I Add Synthetic Oil?
First oil change you`ll be ok to switch it over to synthetic.
I usually switch all my vehicles at 2,000 miles, and never had an issue.
(change it again at 5,000 miles on the odometer, then every 5,000 miles after that)
I dont like to leave the "break-in" oil in a new engine for to long, lots of junk in it from break-in.
I`ve tried ALL the other major brand synthetics in every hemi i`ve owned, vavoline always worked the best.
Valvoline = No smoking on start-up`s, better oil pressure, stayed cleaner ALOT longer than ANY other synthetic oil i`ve used.
I will also add, i`ve never had sludge build-up either with valvoline, most the others have had signs of sludge in my past experience.
Just some wise advice, dont trust that EVIC in the dash, just log your miles and change it often.
I change my synthetic every 5,000 miles, or if its conventional oil, every 3,000 miles.
If you run the truck hard or tow, take 1,000 miles off what i posted.
When the EVIC oil warning comes on in the dash, its easy to re-set it.
Turn ignition on (but dont start the truck) and then within 10 seconds,
press the gas pedal fully to the floor 3 times, turn ignition switch off.
Then start the truck, oil change warning should stay off.
Might have to do it twice, sometimes they miss.
