Default Tire Sizes for 2009 Ram 2500

Hi, I just wanted to know how big I can go on my tire size. I a have a stock 2009 Ram 2500 SXT 2wd Quadcab. I am going to stay with the 17 inch rims. The tire store told me I could only go with 265/70/r17. Seems like a bigger tire would fit. If I did put a leveling kit on the front then what tire could I go with also.

If you put a leveling kit on you could possibly squeeze a lt315/70r17 in but that is a wide tire so it might possibly rub if you don't use a backspacer. Stock, you could probably swap in a lt285/70r17 to give it a little more meat. This will throw your speedometer off some.

Well I learned today that I really can not go bigger on the tires unless I get a 4" lift.

I have the 285/70/17's on mine and they fit without any issues whatsoever. Plenty of clearance to everything.

Well I ordered my new rims and tires. Went with the 285/70/17. I am also going to level the front. I will show a pic when I am done. I saw the thread on tire sizes for third generation rams. I'm sure there is no difference between a 08 ram 2500 and 09.

Just thought I would give an update. Well I have my rims and tires and they are installed. As I said in the previous post I went with the 285/70/17 and they barely fit. The tires do rub slightly at full turn but I'm sure the the 2" level kit will take care of that. So for anyone out there who has my truck, anything taller or wider than a 285/70/17 will not fit without modifications. I will throw out a pic once the level kit is done.

Well here it is. I wish I did a before and after, oh well trust me after looks a lot nicer. There is a lot more room under the wheel well now. This is a 2" leveling kit. It comes with the coil spacers and longer shocks.
