Default Does this sound right (video)

I have been hearing this rattling noise for about 3 seconds when I start the truck in the morning. It happens in the cold and heat. Does this sound normal or is this the manifold bolts I have read about on here?

Sounds like a dry oil filter with a bad check valve. What brand oil filter are you using and is the oil pressure slow to rise and does the ticking stop when the oil pressure increases?

I take it to the Chrysler dealership and they change the oil in it. I never really paid attention how fast the oil temp rises. It stops after 3 seconds. But it does tick even after it's started. This sounds like a rattle though.

Funny, I heard that exact sound about a week ago, one morning on a cold start up. It sounded like a rattle, my thought was I left a rag in the engine bay and the fan snagged it. Like yours, it was gone in a couple of seconds. I for the life of me have not been able to duplicate the sound again. I'd like to be observing and listening more closely within the engine bay, however everytime my wife or I turn over the ignition, nothing, as of now.

Just sounds like low oil pressure on start up. The sound stops after a few seconds till the engine can regain the oil pressure.

All vehicles with hydraulic lifters can do this

Ever listen to a vehicle with solid lifters when it is cold?

Well, she's due for a oil change now, so I'll have them put synthetic in, and the mopar filter and see if it continues.

That's the manifold bolts. I have the same sound when I start my truck. I took it in and they said it is the bolts. Haven't had it fixed yet though.

Well I had the oil changed and the filter. I decided to put in full synthetic. I haven't heard the noise at start up.

The mechanic who is a friend of mine suggested to put in synthetic. He stated I could go to 7,500km and change the oil. He said what he does is at 5,000km he changes the filter and tops up the oil, then does at full change at 10,000km. Does anyone do that?

After the $116 bill, I think I am going to learn how to change my own oil. I found a good link with videos on how to do it. I change it on my ATV, just haven't done it on the truck.

Anyone have any good ideas for filters and oil? He used Quaker State, but I think I might switch to Valvoline. Unless anyone has a good review.
