Default Help Tow Mirrors!

Hi Recently installed aftermarket tow mirrors on my 2012 Dodge Ram 2500. It orginally had the heated motorized type when I installed the new ones it's the samething with the puddle lights and turn signals. I did notice that the truck is wired for the that option. My local mechanic told me that I had to the truck the dealer to have the computer accept the new mirrors for voltage. The dealer said the work was complete but the lights and turn signals don't work....any suggestions! Thank you

Sounds like they did it wrong and didn't actually test their work, so take it back. My understanding is that they need to add the option code for the mirrors that you installed. I added the tow mirrors to mine and never bothered trying to get the lights activated since all I cared about was the mirror functionality.

There are so many posts here and on other sites saying you can/you can't make it work. I'm not even sure what the truth is. I installed tow mirrors on mine and am afraid to spend the money only to find out it won't work. I know the modules in my doors have all the pins, but some have said it still won't work cause it didn't come with them and the only option is to splice the wires.

We really need an answer from someone at Chrysler that knows what they are talking about. Maybe you can't with the older but can with the new.....maybe you can't period????

I agree with oldjeep, the dealer didn't do it right. Per the schematics, the wiring is all there and it's common to all models. It would be too costly for different wiring to be installed for different options. The door modules receive their commands via the CAN IHS Bus from the TIPM module, the door modules in turn send the control signals to the mirrors. In your case the wiring is there, the bus is there, but the right message is missing to the door modules. All of this information is based on my 2009 1500 RAM service manual. So maybe the 2500 is different. Another thing, the service manual says it applies to all "except base". I haven't figured out what that means.
