Default Looking for winter tire recommendations

Have been traveling for the last month from Ontario, currently on Vancouver Island pulling a 32' travel trailer (8500 lbs) and planning on returning soon. My stock tires now have 45000 km (28000 mi) and have noticed some slipping on "takeoff" in wet conditions. There's been some bad snow storms in the prairies and northern Ontario lately and I'm thinking it would be advisable to get some snow/winter tires for the return. Looking for suggestions on make/style. Also wondering about chains ... what's it like driving with chains?

nokian hakkapeliitta 4, Mastercraft courser MSR, cooper glacier grips, I have had good luck with all 3. I haven't been impressed with either of the 2 AT tires I've tried. It depends on your size and supplier.

IF you want to stay stock size, and keep them all on all year. Go with the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. Mountain/Snowflake rated, but stays on all year.

I have had just about all of the big tires you can buy. Nothing has impressed me for year round performance like these.

I had the Silent Armoours put on as well. Been drivng on them the last few weeks. No MPG adverse affect. Drives nice. Handles corners, and rain well. But I will still put my Michelin LTX M/S II back on in the Spring. Save the SA's for Winter. Got $160.00 rebate on them too. Matter of fact I got a Set of 4 Goodyear Eagles with an $80.00 rebate and 4 Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice (Buy 3 get one free at the local tire store)for my wifes car with $120.00 rebate. So factor all that in and I got more than two free tires for my wife's car....LOL.

Now I just gotta pay the credit card for all them....Yikes.
