Im not down on dodge for being all new in 2013, But last year the f-150 was motor trends truck of the year, year before that Im sure the HD GM trucks and now this year, the 2013 Ram.

IN 2014 GM trucks will be motor trends truck of the year, Thiers never been a consistant run of truck of the years for any brand, being told brand such and such is truck of the year means nothing as each consumer when they buy new is determing thier truck of the year.

Brand loyality will allways over ride what a motor trend says to buy, To date my 06 2500 Ram is still my truck off the year for 2013+

Cyclone,

While I tend to agree with what you are saying, this award could definitely help with buyers who are not brand loyal or may have never owned a truck before and are looking to get their first.

What will help is fixing the quality control issues with the truck.
Don't get me wrong, I have owned a Dodge truck since I was 16 YO. I love my '09. However the Brand is plagued by bad word of mouth press. The latest debacle with the rear end is not helping as most of my Ford friends keep asking if I broke a nut yet. I think Ram has the styling thing down pat but the brand needs more to get Ford devotees to the table.

Im sure dodge would feel better if motor trend did not proclaim the 2013 truck of the year and Chrysler sold out all 2013 Rams, vers motor trend proclaiming the 2013 is truck of the year and dodge only sells a small percentage of Ram trucks..

Ford, GM, Dodge, toyota, Nissan, not of them can meet the hype and expectations sold threw advertising.

A small % of loyal happy Ram owners is better than a large % of unhappy first time Ram buyers who boycot the chrysler line up of products, But sales rule!!.

I have to admit that if I were in higher standing in name, I would sell my self out for the easy bucks and say the new Zonto GTr5x is the best line of trucks..

Just ask them if they have seen any Raptors with cracked frames.... They all have issues after getting to production where we put them through the ringer.

there's only one reason why I'm driving a Ram 2500 right now, instead of a Ford.. the G56 manual transmission. Ram is the ONLY manufacturer to offer a manual transmission in a new full size pickup (Ford, GM, Toyota and Nissan only offer auto's in their 1/2 ton and up pickups)

While it's nice that the new Ram 1500 is the truck of the year, that seems to change yearly when a new manufacturer brings out new goodies in their new redesign.

Yeah, everybody has "truck of the year" awards, just depends on who you ask.
You can dress the bitch all up nice and pretty, but she`s still a bitch.

Never believe ANYTHING you read, and only HALF of what you see...! (lotta truth to that statement)

LOL....Too funny. I was originally going to write that my ex wife dressed up pretty, but that sure didn't make her wife of the year....But I figured I should stay on subject.....

Dodge no longer builds a man transmisson with a gas engine, you have to go to a CTD to get a man transmisson, dodge is the only brand to offer a 6sp man in a diesel engine.

If I could by a 2500 with a hemi and 6sp man I would replace my 06 2500. I own a hemi 6sp man with the g56 also in a 2500, and the 6sp hemi combo is the only reason I keep repairing oem mopar parts and keeping my truck on the road...

Dodge never had the option of a hemi with a 6sp in a 1500, you had to go to a 2500 and the 4.7 6sp was phased out in the 3rd gen run..

Not that Ford, dodge and gm are going offer the return of a gas engine with a man transmisson, this will be my truck of the year and will impress me more than trickery and gadgets that in the end break like every thing else..
