Default Ren with new uconnect module

I recently bought a uconnect module part#82212159 (68104904AC) with ipod integration cable part # 82212000 . I would have thought everything would be plug and play, but nothing in life comes easy. My touch screen now shows a new soft button "UCI" but will not find my phone4s or an older ipod nano. It states device no longer available. I then check into streaming music bluetooth, since my iphone shows 2 options (iPhone or uconnect) I try uconnect and same thing happens "this device is no longer available." Any ideas before I bring it into the dealership? I have updated my REN to the latest one I could find 9.292 with no luck.......

well to start with, the iPod cable is the wrong part #. You have it plugged into a 10 pin squarish connector on the Uconnect module. In older modules this would have been the correct cable and location. However you have a newer Uconnect module for post 2012, not pre. So that connector is for diagnostics now. The correct cable that you need for that module is PN 82212160 and will plug into the mini USB connector on the module, next to the 10 pin connector. Nothing will plug into that 10 pin connector with your application.

My gut was telling me that so I ordered that new cable. I'm just afraid it will not work through the touch screen rather purely the iPod

That's the way the older systems worked when they used the 82212000 cable. That was when Apple was using only an analog signal, then went to the USB to transfer data.

You are welcome. Glad I could help. I'm kind of surprised that the people that you bought your parts from didn't know the 2 weren't compatible.

hm, ok makes a little sense. But you'd think a person selling an item would know something about it. Anyway, glad you got it going now.

Does the bluetooth streaming music work or does it work when hooked to the cable? I have the same module and the phone works fine but when I try the audio it doesn't.
Thanks
Sean

BT streaming audio wasn't supported by the radios until 2010. So I believe that the music will come thru the cable only.
