RCA Harness
I have searched the forum and I haven't found exactly what I need. I have a 2012 Crew Cab and have a factory RES radio with just Sirius and no Uconnect. Is there a harness out there that is plug and play that will give me RCA outputs and a remote wire to go to a amp for some subs? If so, does anyone have part numbers or links? I have checked with Crutchfield and they say there is no such thing, but I know there has to be. Thanks in advance.
If your amp can support speaker-level (high-level) inputs then you can fairly easily tap off of the rear door speakers or the factory sub wiring. I hooked mine up from the factory sub wiring and it sounds excellent.
Remote wire you'll have to do yourself. I believe I found a wire in the harness under the driver's seat that runs into the center console that goes to the switched DC outlet and tapped off that.

They do have them, the problem is that they are only available on the premium audio systems. Which if I remember right the RES is not the premium one, but I could be wrong.
If you're interested in what they do here is a link. http://www.pac-audio.com/productDeta...&CategoryID=28 But again it specifically states for premium systems only. Because dodge uses a canbus system and everything is integrated into it, unless you have the premium system to start with. That systems is not gonna be able to tell this adapter what to do.
My advice is go out and get an aftermarket deck, they are rather inexpensive but will allow you to do exactly what you want plus a whole lot more. You go with a single din deck (which the RES is a din and half, so you're not losing much) Cost you maybe 100bucks, but your gonna get a deck with probably 3 or 4 RCA outs. Including one dedicated for subs, and a remote wire connection. Most come "sirius ready" Which means you have to buy a sirius tuner, but you can still use the subscription. Then on top of that you are going to have to buy a radio replacement adapter, but either way your gonna need an adapter.
Now I am talking CANADIAN pricing, so things will be much cheaper if you're in the states. But if you are working with CAN, you're gonna spend 300 bucks to get soo much more. A deck that will have equalizers, which mean a world of difference I don't care who you are. I have worked with 30grand systems, running at 140db (ya loud) without an EQ it just sounded AWFUL. As soon as the EQ was turned on it never even hurt our ears. You will get actual preouts for amps, so MUCH better sound adjustment for your amps. IMO a much better radio interface, with possible remote (depending on your deck)
I don't want to sound snoody or anything, but I do see SOME guys who just wire up a sound system just to get it working. Not saying everyone does, but when you just tap and splice just to get an amp working and not use actual control, TO ME the quality just isn't there. When I used to run systems before trading my truck in every year (its just not worth it to do a custom system anymore) I learned what worked and what didn't. I will never install a system again without having a dedicated amp for each the speakers and the subs, with proper outputs. Just by having the levels come up at the levels they are supposed to make a world of difference. Not just all at once, which will create distortion.

I got a PAC unit that is compatible with non-premium audio systems such as the RES. It works fine and I think it was about $50. I'm not sure the model number... I will check it out and get back with you.
