Default Brake rotor R&R?

Brake Rotor replacement tricks? Anything special I have to do to change the rotors? I know....take of the wheels and calipers. Just wondering if they ahd any clips or anything holding them on.
I picked up a full set from Brakemotive. Drilled/slotted and ceramic pads, off their ebay store.

Rear rotors on my truck are really bad now. Even worse than a few weeks ago. Glad I finally got the rotors from the Fedex truck. Can't wait to see how good they are.

I did the pads not too long ago, with the NAPA Adaptive 1 pads. That was pretty easy. Of course the tires/rims weigh a ton. Supposed to be nice up here in NH this week so hoping to get it done in the next few days. Didn't want to do it when it was 95 degrees and 70% humidity....

I just had mine done at Just Brakes last week. Had them change all the rotors and watched them do it all. Seemed pretty straight forward, they pulled the pads and calibers and the rotors came right off with a few love taps from a hammer.

Default Update:

Well it was not as straight forward as I was hoping....

Got the truck up and on jack stands. Got the rear wheels off. Thank God I put anti-seize on the back of the rims this time around. They came right off. Got the caliper off the left side rear. The caliper bolts were pretty tight. Went to take the rotor off and it was stuck pretty good. Made sure to back the parking brake adjuster off as far as it would go. Got the rotor to move just a little. went and got an 8' 2x4 and got on the other side of the truck and started whacking the back of the rotor. Turned it 180 and whacked it again. NOPE! Got out the torch. Heated it up for about ten minutes. 2x4. Whack whack and presto the rotor dislodged. Get the rotor off and low and behold the rear brake shoe pad was off and severely worn out. Like it was paper thin. I can only assume that when I had the dealership adjust the E-brake cable they over tightened it as I could barely push the pedal down too get one click on it. Must have been dragging for sometime. I went to do the right side rear and it was much quicker. Still found the 2x4 more useful than the dead blow hammer I was using. Couple of whacks at the back of the rotor, 180, whack a few times and off it came. No heat this time. Both E-brake shoes were fine and not worn out. So back to the drivers side and remove the whole brake shoe assembly. Call NAPA. $100.00 for Shoes and $20 for the spring kit. Due in today. Here is a pic of what it looked like and the tools I used. Not many. Screwdriver to back off the adjuster an extension to reach over the rear sway bar and get at the caliper bolts a couple sockets and and a ratchet wrench. (Dead blow hammer too). You can see the removed pad from the shoe.
Was hoping to get it all done yesterday and ot spend the extra cash at only 60,000 miles. But oh well. So just be prepared when doing your brakes that you might need need to do the e-brake pads as well.

I can't wait to put the e-brake stuff back together. The axle hub is pretty big and this stuff was buried behind it with not much room to get tools in there. A long needle nose is definitional a must have. That and patience....lots and lots of patience....along with beer. Lots and lots of beer.!!!!!!

Do yourself a favor and pick up the right tools for the shoe reinstall. For $15 these work well enough and make life a lot easier getting the springs back in.

Yeah thanks. I do have a full brake install set, however there is really not much room to use them in there. We'll see though. I think the toughest par will be getting those little pad retention clips Back on...and the fact that they use two springs on the bottom. One is on the back of the shoes and one on the front. The spring at the top was real easy to get off as it is on the front and pretty high up. I just have to work around the hubs....
I will have to do all this when there are no kids around. And definitely not on a Sunday....The God-Karma thing might not be good!

Well, if it really sucks to replace them, then maybe it is time for a rear diff fluid change Pop the center pin and the c clip so that you can get the hub out of the way.
