17x7 wheel ?'s
Time to replace the stock 265/70/17 Tires and I know my wheels are 17x7" and want to get some Dick Cepek Trail Country's in size 285/70/17.
Anybody actually running a 285 or bigger tire on these 17x7 stock wheels that can verify no problems from the slimmer wheel. The tires recomend 7.5-8.5 for wheel width.
also I had the offset at onetime for these wheels but now can not find where I wrote it down, does anybody know what that is?
Thanks

I have a set of snow tires that size on the stock rims with no problems. I have the 20" OEM wheel and tires but wanted dedicated snow tires for winter and had the 17" wheels already so that was the closest to the same height as the 20's.
Could you post a pic or two of the 7" wide wheels with the 285/70/17? Also, what tire are you running? I'm ready to get something bigger than the stock 265s, they just look too small.
Awesome, thanks. Is the tire store giving any grief since the rim is outside the tire mfg's approved rim width?

actually no. It is a locally owned store that has been around for years and deals only in tires. He said It'll be OK
Mine are Firestone Destination AT's and were put on at the Firestone store. They had no issues with me going up the one size. I'd do a picture but it's ~-5 outside with snow so that'll have to come later.
How many miles do you have on that current setup? Any signs of irregular wear or the like? Or can you air down slightly to compensate for the bowing that the smaller wheel will create?
