had kinda the same happen to me on on xmas eve. I was driving on an unplowed road and out of the blue the rpm raced up and the tranny shifted down to 4th. Only difference is that the truck is not moving anymore. The tranny indicates 4th but the truck is in neutral and wont go in any other gears. I tried 2wd, 4wd, and 4wd low and nothing. The transfer case wont allow me to shift in neutral either...

Did your check engine light pop up ? mine did

Yes my light came on but mine stayed in 4th, wouldn't up shift or down shift just stayed in 4th even from a dead stop. Luckily I wasn't too far from the dealership and took it in. The next day they fixed it. They said it was an electrical problem ( a solenoid defect). They had to remove the valve body in the transmission to change it. Covered under warranty

just got off the phone with the dealer and they took the entire thing apart and could not figure it out. the trouble code did not tell them anything, so now they ordered a new pump, tc and clutch pack and will start from there. The ****ty part is this happened 1000 km away from home, so now I have to cover the cost of a rental car to get back to work, and will have to travel back to northern qc the pick up my truck when ready ... i think im gonna have to look at changing truck. This is my second tranny in 50000 km. And im not even trying to beat the truck up... sux.

That sucks man! They should cover the rental car, it's in your warranty if it's down for more than a day. They covered mine. If they give you problems you should call Chrysler Canada
