Unhappy 2011 Ram 1500 roaring noise at 60 mph

Is anybody else's truck making a low roaring noise while going at constant speed of about 62 mph? Once you accelerate faster or get on brake it stops. If i set my speed at 60 mph. and go up a hill it always makes the noise. You cant hear it from the outside of the truck only from the inside and im pretty sure its coming from the engine. Dealership says its nothing, but i beg to differ.
The noise does'nt affect performance at all its just annoying and I dont like it.....Somebody please HELP

At the risk of sounding sarcastic, how do you know you can't hear the sound outside of the truck at 60mph? Did you ride in the truck bed at some point?

Define roaring? I've got a loose heat shield - or something like it near my cat. Makes an annoying high frequency rattle at a certain RPM. Been too cold to really figure out what is causing it - probably something rusted out.

Mikeze175,

I'm sorry to hear about your noise concern. When you brought the truck to the dealership, were you able to demonstrate the noise for them? Did the technician hear the noise you're describing?

It is important to bring all details that you notice to the Service Manager's attention. Pinpointing the direct cause may require a few more details regarding under what circumstances the noise is heard.

Dodgeboy77 and oldjeep,

The questions asked are relevant. Based on noise and circumstances, determining the root cause will require more attention to when the issue is experienced.

Smarter advice would be to take a GOOD trained mastertech for a ride in it and defeat the middle man (Service Manager's) first. Throwing a 3rd wheel (Service Manager's) in the middle is usually a big problem... (miscommunication effect with MOST service manager`s) you know how story`s change when to many are involved. It would be best that the TECH gets it right from the customer directly... problems usually get resolved quicker. When i was a service manager, (everywhere i worked) i would always go get the tech`s and have them road test the vehicle first, THEN, we would right up the work order together accordingly, if it needed firther attention. (sometimes it can be a 10 second fix, and NOT waste the customers time or the dealerships time) That way ther`s no he said she said, and everybody CLEARLY understands whats going on. Time is money, and nobody likes wasting their time.
