10k mile oild changes for 2014 & 2015 Hemis
Just wondering why the newer hemis can go 10k miles before oil changes vs the 6k for the earlier ones. Also the new ones go 100k miles between plug changes. Has anything changed? I can't find anything anywhere about the longer service periods for the oil.
My Journey is 100kfor plugs and 8-10k for oil. I still change the oil every 5k/5000 miles. Nothing stopping you from changing anything earlier.[/QUOTE]
Nope, oil changes when ever you feel the need, we were just wondering why they changed the reccomendations.

Synthetic oil last longer as long as the wear additives remains good, dirt levels low and no solvent (fuel) is present. Only an oil analysis will give you true oil change interval recommendation.
RAM and all the other manufacturers recommend X miles based on getting you past the warranty period.
My 2010 with relatively high mileage will get 0W-20 synthetic every year or- 5,000 miles or less simply because that is my preference. I like seeing clear oil on the dipstick and want to see 200,000 miles or more.
