Unhappy remote unlocking

My remote unlocking on my key doesn't work any more. Can the battery be replaced? I can't find any thing in the manual.

I don't know for sure, but it almost has to have a replaceable battery. I'm not sure about the 2012 fobs, but on mine (2015) if you pop the key out and look inside, there's a little screw there. Maybe that will give you access to the battery?

I went online and found out how to change the battery, which I did, but now it will only lock the truck. I will see the dealer tomorrow. Thanks

That's always convenient.

The fob should be covered under the warranty. Have you exceeded that?

I've got to get mine looked at soon too. Both fobs started working less and less until they stopped working entirely. Switching batteries didn't help, so it seems like it must be the receiver in the truck.

Have you tried opening them up and cleaning the contacts? My fob had the same symptoms as yours and stopped working. I cleaned it up and it worked for a few and then again it would be hit and miss. I took my wife's fob (which has hardly ever been used and may still have the original battery) and it works great.

I think that maybe the contacts just get worn out. The dealer wants $160 for the fob and $60 to program it. I'm holding out till the second fob goes out.

Ditto moze229's questions, brush4646...have you exceeded your warranty?

You can try Pedro Dog's suggestion as well to see if you have any luck with that method.
