Default Key Fob Issues

Just picked up a 2010 Ram 1500 and it only came with one key and no fob. The dealer said this car may have not have ever had a fob and that I would have to get an aftermarket keyless entry installed. Is there a way to check and see if there was ever a key fob and if so how would I go about replacing it?

You can go to this site and request your build sheet. That will tell you.

If you don't currently have an FOB, a dealer or locksmith will have to do it.

thebusiness11, if you’d like to PM your VIN, I can also check on the FOB issue for you.

Hey thanks for the offer but I followed the advice earlier in the thread and ordered the build sheet. Turns out it never had a keyless entry system installed. Now I am trying to find the best route to have this installed after the fact.

if you have a 2009 or newer ST model that came without keyless, you can still add keyless. go to YouTube. look for a video called "EASY and CHEAP - How to Install Factory Keyless"

this should help you out.
