Default anti lock brakes

Would it hurt to pull the fuse to disable the anti-lock brakes? I hate those
things. I never had any trouble stopping before these things.
Thanks Bob

Won't hurt anything. As long as you don't mind the ABS light on the dash all the time. Probably also disable traction control, if equipped. Don't know what the issue is. They don't really do anything until needed. Would you rather skid into someone or something?

ABS have been on cars/trucks since at least the mid-90's... if you have an issue with your 2012 ABS, maybe there is something going on that needs attention... or perhaps you think you have an ABS issue but it is really something else

as jkeaton said, they really do not do anything 100% of the time, until you lock up a wheel and the ABS helps control your skid by pulsing that wheel, then you might feel a stuttering effect, but it should only last while your foot is on the brake

I put the fuse back in because it also disabled the traction control and the cruise control. I will tolerate the pulsing and grinding under the dash.

Maybe not mash the brake so hard.

seeing as how you are in the snow belt, maybe get some more aggressive all-weather tires to help keep traction... never heard much grinding with or without ABS... pulsing yes, very rarely, but never grinding... brakes should NOT grind

Sandbag the bed of your truck. It might cut down on some of the skidding. You should have a disable ESP button on the dash, BUT that won't disable ABS function.

Could you be having a problem with Traction Control... I have Trac control on my 2014, not sure if it was offered in 2012... I have a way thru the dash to turn it off...

Your not in 4WD or 4WD lock are you? 4WD lock will give you problems when turning tight curves on dry roads as the wheels are locked together and will cause your tires to chirp as they lose grip on dry pavement...

I am not convinced your ABS is at fault for whatever noise you hear...

The grinding is coming from under the dash. I can apply the brakes real slowly and if is a little slippery when I press more the grinding under the dash starts and the pedal pulses.
